Hello, Ho Chi Minh City.

3 Days in a new city.

For the first time ever, my lil sis & I travel somewhere without our parents. Moreover, it’s out of the country.
So my lil sis decided to choose Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam because there’s the no 1 safest country to visit across Asia. Plus this trip is super reasonable in every corner.

Here is what we did!

The first day there, we reach Saigon airport around noon and split after we headed out we can hear a bunch of people from different booths tries to sell sim card & private transport/taxi. I did my research on the most affordable transport is by bus. So we took the bus no 109 heading to the city center and where our hotel located (District 1).

After arriving at the hotel, we spend the entire evening walking around a couple of blocks from our hotel. Our first stop was a halal Vietnamese restaurant, Kampung Pandan. The exhilaration having Pho in Vietnam is surreal. Plus we were having a lil culture and environment shock at the moment. So the food is kinda tracked us back to reality.

In our opinion, Ho Chi Minh City is the same vibe as some town in Malaysia and the only difference is the road and the market is super busy with local people. Their passion with the time is taking really seriously. They are super-fast on road and they’re using their honk a lot. You’ll be surprised when you see that they even using the sidewalk as their route (motorcycle). In my mind thinking, aren’t they gonna crash each other?

This was so bizarre! I’m not sure how to moving around and that’s why I always held my sister.

The second day was a full day tour. The weather was not so bad, and the city was crowded even early in the morning would be an understatement.

Our first stop was Bến Thành Market, which was packed with foods and traditional crafts. A lot of shops selling pretty much the same things and some of the seller can speak Malay well, so that's how the bargain begins.

We continue our day by walking to Ho Chi Minh City Museum of Fine Arts. I love visiting the museum because that's how I learn things about history in one place.

How fascinating that most of the art display is set forth about women in Vietnam since world war until the present.

Next stop, we took a grab and decided to visit Tân Định Church, the very famous architecture in Ho Chi Minh City. We only got a chance to take some photos outside of the building.

Unfortunately, the bad weather approached and we knew we had a bit of a walk ahead of us, so we made our way back to the hotel area & having lunch at D'Serai Restaurant.

We go back to the hotel and the rain starts to pour badly until late evening. I almost lose hope of wandering around the city until my sister said, "Screw the weather, you get the umbrella & I will buy the raincoat from the local shop, let's just walk"

Thank god the rain stopped not long after we headed out. We continue strolling around and we found 'Malaysian Street' a.k.a Nguyễn An Ninh street. This is basically shopping spree for Malaysian, which the same as Bến Thành Market but I admit the price is way cheaper.

After looking around, we were walking to The Cafe Apartmentsl which near to the City hall.

The atmosphere of the building surprises me because it is way prettier at night.

That's all about it, Ho Chi Minh City simply has beautiful people & culture. Indeed it's a short trip but I’m glad we got to see it. Hoping to visit more country in the future.

All the love,
Iqa xx
